Bathrooms in Horsham: Planning

Before choosing your bathroom suite, plan carefully and seek professional advice, there are lots of considerations to take into account. These considerations should involve the siting of appliances, the size of appliances, eg baths, shower cubicles, and the water pressure and flow rates needed to supply these appliances.

Sitting Appliances

First examine the area space of your bathroom, this is important as most bathrooms in the U.K housing stock cannot accommodate the addition of a shower cubicle. If this is the case a shower can be installed over the bath. When deciding the layout of the bathroom, make sure all toilets, baths and showers are sited near to the external soil stack. Failure to consider this can lead to drainage problems and re-siting, leading to higher costs.

Make sure all appliances have the correct access for maintenance, as a future repair could lead to unnecessary damage to the bathroom. Finally, if your bathroom can accommodate a larger bath, then install one, as the experience will be better.

Water Pressures and Flow rates

The current cold and hot water supplies of your property may not be suitable for certain appliances and fittings. If you wish to install power showers, modern disc/quarter turn taps, body sprays, bath combi waste fillers and shower columns, your supplies will need converting to high mains pressure or pumped systems. This is because they need high pressure and flow rates to operate correctly. For instance, shower columns and body sprays typically need around 3bar pressure for optimum performance, modern taps. A qualified plumber should always be consulted on this issue before purchasing appliances, so as to avoid costly errors. Please take into account that buying high performance products is a waste of money if your plumbing system is not up to the task.

Cost

The cost of installing a bathroom varies from job to job, the cheapest installations involve like for like replacements of the bath, wash basin and toilet with out much interference to the pipe work..The most expensive installations involve separate shower cubicles, towel rails, re-sighting of appliances, re-running all pipe work, replacing the soil stack and upgrading supplies. It is worth noting that there are many variations to a bathroom, with some costing more than central heating systems in labour.

En-suites in loft conversions can commonly involve changing most of the existing plumbing system, including the boiler, to meet demands!. All this seems obvious, but most customers fail to realise the scope of work sometimes needed, hence the reason to always seek professional advice.
